How does the dragon name generator work?
Four steps, then a name you can defend. Pick a mode: Draconic roots plus titles, or mythic canon names. Press Generate. Read the receipt: each chip is one part with its meaning, and tapping a chip swaps only that part. Keep what fits; the shelf holds your shortlist while you compare hoards.

How do dragon names work?
Pyranth the Golden = pyr (fire) + anth (name-ending) + the Golden (title). That pattern is the whole trick. A dragon name is an element plus a reputation. The element says what the dragon is: fire, gold, storm, night. The title says what the dragon did: ate the sun, burned the first city, kept the hoard.
The receipts come from everywhere. Tiamat is the sea-mother of the Enuma Elish, and her name carried the salt sea itself. Fafnir of the Volsunga saga was once a man, and the saga says greed reshaped him. Tolkien named his dragon Smaug from an Old Germanic word for "to squeeze through a hole." What is a good dragon name?
A good dragon name names the element, then names the deed. If the title could belong to anyone, it is not a dragon name yet. How do female and male dragon names differ?
Mainly in element choice, not in grammar. The same title bank serves both. Sea, moon and star elements read female to most readers; fire, storm and stone read male. Nothing in the convention enforces it, and Tiamat breaks the pattern by being both mother and monster.

What are dragon last names?
Dragons carry lineage names instead of surnames. The form is the line of descent or the hoard's seat: who begat whom, and where the gold sleeps. A dragon's line name says more than any family name, because dragons live long enough to become their own ancestor.

Why dragons carry both a title and a true name
Two names, two jobs. The title is the public one: it travels ahead of the dragon and does the scaring. "The World-Eater" is a warning label. The true name is the inner one, and in the strongest canons it is the handle power takes hold of. Earthsea's dragons speak their true names because names are their language. Skyrim's dragons are named in the dragon tongue, and each name is a Shout, three words of force.
Myth keeps the same split. The Enuma Elish names Tiamat, and the name means the salt sea itself: the true name is the thing. So when you pick the right name for your dragon, decide which of the two you are writing. A title for the story's surface, a true name for the creature underneath, and the receipt for both.

Dragon vs dragonborn names
Neighbors, not rivals. Dragons take element roots and earned titles. Dragonborn take clan names first and personal names second, per their published lore. One tradition names the individual; the other leads with the house.
